Pharmacy software in Ghana: prescriptions, dispensing and stock in Health Grid
Health Grid includes a pharmacy workspace for pharmacies attached to, or working with, Health Grid clinics. It focuses on receiving prescriptions, dispensing and keeping stock counts.
What the pharmacy workspace does
- Incoming prescriptions list showing prescriptions sent from consultations.
- Dispensing screen to record what was given, with standard counselling notes.
- Inventory list with stock on hand, and a screen to record received stock.
- Transaction history of dispenses.
- Each dispense is charged to the facility's prepaid wallet at its plan's dispensing fee.
What it is not
Health Grid is not a retail point-of-sale system. It does not print receipts for walk-in cash sales, process mobile money, or submit NHIS claims to NHIA, and pharmacy dispensing needs an internet connection.
Questions
Can walk-in customers be served?
Health Grid is built around prescriptions from Health Grid consultations. It is not designed as a walk-in retail till.
Does it handle NHIS?
Health Grid prepares NHIS claims from recorded visits, priced only from the official tariff list your facility imports, with manager approval, a preparation export and recorded submission/reimbursement references. It does not submit claims to NHIA directly; you submit through your approved NHIA channel.
Does it work offline?
Partly. On a facility-controlled device with encrypted offline storage turned on (set up while online), staff can register patients, queue them, record vitals for an open visit and keep consultation drafts without a connection. After a reload with no internet, staff reopen the offline workspace with their offline passphrase (facility access must have been confirmed online within the last 72 hours). Records sync only after the same staff member signs in online again. Dispensing, stock, billing and referrals need a live connection, as do admin pages.
